Downtown Dallas – A Great Place to Work & Play

Downtown Dallas is a great place to work. Although it covers a large area, you can be sure that wherever you are, there are plenty of great restaurants, shops and entertainment opportunities within walking distance. The downtown area is also well served by DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), so it’s also a great option for those who don’t have a car or don’t want to fight Dallas rush-hour traffic.
There are several cool districts that comprise the downtown Dallas area. Here are a some of our favorite spots.
West End
In addition to the plentiful dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities, the West End is rich in history.
Sixth Floor Museum – The Sixth Floor Museum, located in Dealey Plaza, is housed in the former Texas School Book Depository, infamously known as the location from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot President Kennedy in 1963. It is now a museum that chronicles the assassination and legacy of JFK with permanent exhibits, educational resources and monthly programs.
Dallas World Aquarium – In addition to a beautiful and comprehensive collection of aquatic life from around the world, the Dallas World Aquarium also hosts a rainforest exhibit with exotic rainforest birds and wildlife. You’ll also find several restaurants and cafes when you need a break. Plan to make a day of it!
Victory Park
American Airlines Center – If you’re a basketball or hockey fan, you’ll definitely want to catch a game at the home of the world champion Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars hockey team. You can also catch concerts from some of the worlds most famous musicians and bands here.
Arts District
AT&T Performing Arts Center – This massive, much-anticipated facility opened in 2009 and is home to a diverse range of performing arts, including the Winspear Opera House. It also hosts concerts, dance performances, theatrical productions, and national touring acts such as the Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil.
Deep Ellum
If you’re into nightlife, Deep Ellum is the place to be. If you want to have a great meal in a local restaurant, listen to some live music and hang out with the hip crowd, you’ll definitely want to check this area out.
